KRRUM MOON

Ahead of Krrum’s second Moon Club event at Headrow House in Leeds, the city’s rising talent releases a zesty little number suitably titled ‘Moon’. In the flavour of ‘Evil Twin’ and ‘Hard On You’, this one-time butcher combines beefy bass with dance rhythms and a simmering emotion through his heartfelt lyrics and vocalised pop melodies. Arguably a more restrained version of his bold electronics, the track centres around a seriously catchy line; “Won’t you hold me back, big moon in a habitat, lift me up and throw me back, all over again; won’t you hold me back, big moon is a habit that shows me that I’m over, and I’m falling again.” Kruum confesses that hiss powerlessness under the pull of this “big moon,” the symbol of a potential relationship, and as the singer says, "It's an uncomfortable place to be because you have no control and you’re probably gonna mess it all up, like you always do." He repeats the line over these chunky beats, part reassuring himself, part jinxing the whole endeavour, but totally convincing us once again of his skill for sensitive, yet danceable, tunes. - HT
